How it works

PSA test

AED 200.00

PSA stands for prostate-specific antigen and the test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen in the blood. The test may indicate a tumor change, but the most common reason why the value is elevated is benign reasons such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary tract infection and acute/chronic prostatitis.

What is tested in this package

What is PSA total

PSA stands for prostate-specific antigen. PSA is secreted into the blood from a man’s prostate gland. When the prostate is healthy, the PSA level in the blood is usually low. In connection with increased age, the prostate enlarges and this leads to the PSA value rising with age. In addition, the PSA value can also rise in prostate cancer. PSA tests can be taken for various reasons. The most common is that the PSA value is used as a risk marker for prostate cancer. Currently, there is no national screening program for prostate cancer in Sweden, however, men who want to be tested can take a PSA test after reading the National Board of Health and Welfare’s brochure “About PSA tests”, which contains very important information about the test.
