How it works

Diabetes and diabetes complications

If you have type 2 diabetes, cells don’t respond normally to insulin; this is called insulin resistance. Your pancreas makes more insulin to try to get cells to respond.

Eventually your pancreas can’t keep up, and your blood sugar rises, setting the stage for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Eating healthy foods that are lower in carbs, added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium (salt) will be key to managing your blood sugar.

You can work to manage your diabetes type 2 symptoms by working with one of our Internal Medicine Specialist to help you make lifestyle changes to improve your health.
